Description | Letter from Buckingham Palace to the Oba of Benin in reply to the Oba’s appeal to the Queen for restitution of cultural property. It states, ‘She was particularly interested in your account of the events of 1897 and does indeed remember the key features of the history from her own visit in 1956, which she recalls with pleasure’ but the letter does not respond to the request for restitution. |
