Provenance provenance	Part of a collection of lamps collected by J.W. Johnston. This lamp “presented by Mrs. Dale – April 1918” according to the original catalogue of the lamps, but 1918 is probably a typo for 1908 as two other Nigerian lamps are recorded as being given by Mrs. Dale in 1908 and all the other dates around that entry are 1908.
